Position: Eligibility Coordinator
The eligibility coordinator assists patients to apply for benefits and entitlements to aid in financing health services. The job involves good verbal and written communication skills, computer data entry skills, organizing, following policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Assists patients to apply for benefits and entitlements including but not limited to:
a. Health Center Sliding Fee Discount Scale
b. Health Insurance (Medicaid, ACA, etc.)
c. Other assistance programs as needed
B. Communicates effectively with patients and families about financial status.
C. Verifies income for sliding fee patients and documents in the patient file.
D. Generates and sends notifications of expired/expiring sliding fee.
E. Maintains confidentiality of patient eligibility information.
F. Participate in audits as requested.
A. Attend in-service, classes, workshops, meetings and seminars as scheduled.
B. Maintain professionalism in appearance, communications, and interactions with others.
C. Notifies supervisor/clinic in a timely manner if unable to attend work. Fill out the appropriate forms as directed for annual/sick leave time.
D. Participate in health fairs or other programs assigned by the Front Office Supervisor.
E. Other reasonable duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
All front office personnel are hired with a primary site in mind; however, they are inter-office trained to work at all NMPHC sites as needed on a fill-in basis. All personnel can be re-assigned by the Front Office Supervisor to any NMPHC site.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Basic Math Skills (Addition. Subtraction, Multiplication)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with computer operations and Microsoft Office Suite
Based on experience and at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer with the consent of the Board Personnel Committee.
